About Sofia

Sofia Durante is an Italian-Canadian mezzo-soprano known for her rich, expressive voice and dynamic stage presence. Opera Canada praised her warm tone and noted that her performances bring "a level of seriousness" that anchors a production. Though petite in stature, she commands the stage with vocal warmth and agility that have earned her acclaim on international stages across Canada, the United States, and Italy.

Recent career highlights include her portrayal of Le Prince Charnant in Cendrillon with Comic (Book) Opera and her participation as a resident artist in the Canadian Opera Company’s Summer Intensive. A frequent collaborator with Classic Lyric Arts, Sofia has taken on major roles in operatic scenes such as Dorabella in Così fan Tutte, Angelina in La Cenerentola, Orfeo in Orfeo ed Euridice, and Giulio Cesare in Giulio Cesare in Egitto.
